Wayne Hesse, ’76, lettered in basketball for four years. He set many career records that are unsurpassed through the 2003 season including most points (1,892), field goals made (748) and attempted (1,557), and scoring average (20.1). Hesse set the season standard for scoring average in his senior year with 23.8 points per game. His mark of 44 points in a game during the 1974-75 season is the second highest in school history, and he is also second on Concordia’s all-time career rebounding list with 1,263.

            
Hesse was a four-year NIIC all-conference selection, and he also received All-NAIA District 20 acclaim. He was named the Most Valuable Player of CIT during his sophomore and junior years, leading the Cougars to the championship both times.  Following his senior season, Hesse was selected to play in the Collegiate Classic of Illinois (small college versus large college), and he scored 25 points to earn the Small College Most Valuable Player trophy.

            
Hesse earned his B.A. in education. He currently teaches eighth grade at Green Park Lutheran School in St. Louis.
