The 1968 team boasted an overall record of 7-2 that stood as the program’s best for 41 years. The team, led by captains Marty Knoll and Dan Tews, defeated Iowa Wesleyan for the first time in program history with a dominating 41-14 finish.

The 1968 team also continued their success off the field as they were an instrumental part in organizing the Conrad Aumann Scholarship Fund, which goes to a student who needs financial assistance as well as erecting the Cougar Statue that sits on the North Side of the field that every team now passes on their way to the field.

Seven members of the 1968 football team currently reside in the Hall of Fame including Coach Conrad Aumann (HOF Class of 2002), Coach Harold Brockberg (HOF Class of 2002), Jim Braun ’71) (HOF Class of 2003), Thomas Manske ’70 (HOF Class of 2002), Dennis Meuner ’70 (HOF Class of 2002), Ronald F.
