Stephanie Katzenberger BA ’99 earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education/biology.
                                                                                            
Katzenberger was a four-year starter for Cougar Softball at second base and shortstop setting numerous season and career records in batting average, hits, doubles, RBIs and games played. Her 1997 batting average of .487 remains a season record through 2019, while her career average of .380 is fifth best all-time. Katzenberger was a co-captain for the 1997 and 1998 teams, and she was a three-time All-Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference selection.
 
Katzenberger’s teaching and coaching careers began in 1999 at Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, IL. She taught physical education and health while leading the freshman/sophomore teams in softball and volleyball before coaching varsity in both sports. She led the Broncos softball team to its first two Private School League titles ever in 2002 and 2003, earning Private School League Coach of the Year honors each time. The program added another first in 2004 winning a Class 1A Softball Regional Championship, and Walther would repeat in 2005 and 2006. Katzenberger has continued her teaching and coaching careers in softball and volleyball at Oak Lawn Community High School (2007-12) and South Elgin High School since 2013.

Since 2014, Katzenberger has served as a member of various curriculum writing teams and as a professional development facilitator for the Illinois U-46 district. She will complete a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University in December 2019.
