Harold Brockberg, ’52, earned his master’s in education from Bowling Green State University in 1956 and his doctorate from the University of Oregon in 1968.

            
Brockberg served in Concordia River Forest’s athletic department in a variety of roles including head football coach (1956-64), assistant football coach (1965-66, 1968-82), track coach (1957-66, 1969-89), and junior varsity basketball coach (1958-62). He served as athletic director from 1958 to 1967 and was a professor of physical education during that time. Brockberg was honored as National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ (NAIA) District 20 Coach of the Year in 1982 for his role as track coach.

            
Prior to his time at Concordia, Brockberg was a Lutheran elementary school teacher in Brighton, Colorado from 1952 to 1953, and a teacher and athletic director in Orange, California from 1953 to 1955.
