Myron Schumacher, ’63, was a three-sport athlete at Concordia Teachers College, lettering four years in basketball and one year in cross-country and football.

            
Schumacher was a four-year starter in basketball where the Cougars achieved a record of 70-22 during that time. In 1960, Schumacher was named to the “Who’s Who in Small College Basketball” list. He made All-NCAA first teams in 1962 and 1963 and was the first recipient of the CIT Most Valuable Player award. Throughout Schumacher’s career at Concordia, he was named to many “All-Opponent” teams and the CIT All-Tournament team. Upon his graduation, he left behind single-season and career scoring records and a record for assists.

            
Schumacher served as an assistant coach for the women’s varsity basketball team at Lutheran High School North in St. Louis. After teaching for five years, he became an agent with the Lutheran Brotherhood for another five years. He has also served as the regional director of American National Insurance Company.
