Julie (Johnson) Pate ’04 earned her BA in elementary education with a concentration in art.
 
Pate lettered in volleyball for four years and track and field for three years. In volleyball, Pate is the Cougars’ career leader in kills with 1220, highlighted by 427 during the 2001 season. She also holds the match (12), season (153) and career (378) records for solo blocks. Her season record for blocks in 2001 ranked her 19th nationally for NCAA Division III. Pate was named first-team All-Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference for the 2001 and 2003 seasons.
 
In track, Pate was a specialist in the throwing events. Her top efforts came in 2002 when she set school records in the shot put and the javelin. Pate recorded a throw of 38’ 8 ¼” in the shot put at the Elmhurst Invitational, a school record that lasted until 2013. Her throw of 112' 11” in the javelin came in the Tri-State Invitational hosted by Concordia, and that record still stands through 2016. 
 
Since 2005, Pate has taught art for grades K-8 and physical education for grades K-3 at St. Paul Lutheran School in Fort Worth, Texas. Her coaching career at St. Paul has included volleyball, basketball and track.
