Judith C. Kretzschmar earned a bachelor’s in physical education from Valparaiso University and a master’s in physical education from the University of Nebraska. She went on to do additional graduate studies at the University of Colorado, central Washington University, and Michigan State University.

            
Kretzschmar served as an instructor and coach in the physical education department at Concordia Seward from 1962 to 1968. She moved on to Concordia River Forest where she has served in the department of physical education and human performance from 1968 to the present. Kretzschmar coached the Cougar field hockey team from 1968 to 1984 and also coached at various times with volleyball, tennis, gymnastics, and badminton. Her women’s gymnastics team competed only at the beginner level but did take first at the state competition at that level.

            
Kretzschmar has continued to serve as a speaker on the topics of sports, physical education and recreation. She has made numerous presentations to the general public at elementary school graduations, sports banquets, and parent-teacher workshops.
