Marche Smith BSBA ’11, MBA ’12 received her bachelor’s degree in sports management and her Master’s in business management.
Through 2015, Smith owns many of the CUC women’s basketball scoring records. Her 1,917 career points is the current standard for women’s basketball in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference as well as both women’s and men’s programs at Concordia. Smith was the first CUC player to break the 500-point mark for a season (502 in 2009-10) and later set a new standard in her senior year with 556, ranking her seventh nationally in NCAA Division III scoring. Her single-game high of 45 points came in the 2011 CIT game versus Concordia-Wisconsin.
Smith’s in-season awards include several all-tournament teams and All-CIT recognition for four consecutive years. Her postseason awards began in 2008 with NAC Freshman Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Central Region Rookie of the Year, helping the Cougars to 17 wins and a first-ever appearance in the NAC tournament. She also received a first-team All-Region honor in 2009 and second-team honors in 2010 and 2011. Smith was named a first-team All-NAC member her final three years, one of five players to have earned that distinction. Finally, Smith was honored as a conference Scholar-Athlete her senior year.
After graduation, Smith was assistant coach at Concordia and Trinity High School, and is currently the head coach for the Chicago Hoops Express IV AAU team. Smith is currently employed with Aon Risk Solutions in Chicago.
