Athletic Hall of Fame
Kristin (Prange) Veldhuizen ’07 made her impact on the Cougars’ women’s soccer program beginning in 2003. She scored three goals in her very first game to lead CUC to a 4-1 win over Wisconsin Lutheran on Sept. 1, 2003. Nine days later, she scored all the goals in a 3-2 win at North Central College. Veldhuizen finished her rookie season with 17 goals and 40 points in leading the Cougars to a 10-win season which is highest for the program through 2012.
Veldhuizen remained a top scorer and playmaker over the next three seasons. She scored 10 goals and recorded 26 points in 2005 as the Cougars enjoyed a second 10-win season. Veldhuizen finished her career with four-year totals of 40 goals, 13 assists and 93 points, all of which are third on Concordia’s all-time list. Her seven game-winning goals are currently second highest in team history.
Veldhuizen earned first-team honors for the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference in each of her first three years. In 2006, she was awarded honorable mention all-conference as part of the Northern Athletics Conference.
Veldhuizen earned a BA in elementary education, and her academic-related honors include two-time NIIC All-Scholastic honoree, two-time NIIC Fall All-Academic team and member of the NIIC President’s List. Veldhuizen was named to the inaugural Northern Athletics Conference Scholar-Athlete team in 2007. Finally, she was honored as a third-team district Academic All-American by CoSIDA and ESPN The Magazine in 2005 and 2006. Veldhuizen was a member of the Concordia Honors programs, Kappa Delta Pi and Concordia’s Student-Athletic Advisory Committee.
