Chick Lillis, ’77, received her B.A. in education. During her athletic career at Concordia, she competed in field hockey, basketball and softball for four years each and volleyball for one year.
In 1974, following the College Association Field Hockey tournament, Lillis was named to the all-tournament team which then participated in the North Central Regional Field Hockey Tournament. Other highlights of her athletic career at Concordia included being a member of the CIT champion Cougar basketball team in 1975 and serving as co-captain of the softball team during her senior year.
Lillis was a member of the United States National Squad in Team Handball from 1974 to 1983. She played in 55 international matches with her team having competed in two world championships (1975, 1982), two Olympic qualifications (1976, 1980) and five United States Olympic Festivals. Lillis’ other associations within the sport include serving as co-founder and president of both the Great Lakes Region Team Handball Association and the State of Wisconsin Team Handball Association and coaching the Men’s B Division National Championship team at the University of Wisconsin in 1986.
Lillis competed with the Chicago Women’s Rugby Football Club that finished in second place in the 1982 national championships. She is also a 1999 inductee into the Chicago 16-Inch Softball Hall of Fame where two of her teams – Rose and Crown, and O.Js – have received acclaim as well.
Lillis resides in Madison, Wisconsin where she has worked as a firefighter and emergency medical technician for over 20 years.
