Harry McGinnis, ’77, earned his B.A. from Concordia and his M.A. in exercise physiology and adult fitness from the University of Illinois/Chicago.

            
McGinnis was a four-time NAIA national qualifier in wrestling, sporting a career mark of 90-32-2. His achievements on the mat include an NIIC conference championship, a District 20 championship, and Outstanding Wrestler honors at the Spartan Invitational. McGinnis owns Concordia’s longest dual meet winning streak of 29 and fastest pin at 19 seconds. He also lettered one year in cross-country and track.

            
Upon graduation, McGinnis coached wrestling at Luther North High School in Chicago and Holy Cross High School in River Grove. Since 1989, he has served as wrestling coach at Triton Junior College in River Grove where he has produced 83 national qualifiers, 23 All-Americans and 58 Academic All-Americans through 2003. McGinnis has seen four of his All-Americans participate on the NJCAA national team that competed in Austria. His 1997 team won the NJCAA Division III National Title, and McGinnis won National Coach of the Year honors. McGinnis’ 2002 team was honored as the NJCAA Academic Team Award winner with a collective GPA of 3.28.
