Terri Woods has served as Concordia University’s head athletic trainer since 1984. Upon coming to Concordia, she designed and established the athletic training facilities located in the lower level of Geiseman Gymnasium. At that same time, Woods also implemented and coordinated the NATA Undergraduate Student Athletic Training Program internship route to certification. During the next 18 years, Woods supervised 30 student workers, 14 of whom would go on to become Certified Athletic Trainers. As an assistant professor, she taught courses in athletic training, first aid and fitness evaluation for the Human Performance Department for 16 years. Woods became the first full-time Certified Athletic Trainer in Concordia’s history in 1999. The following year, she established a second training facility in the CATS building as part of Concordia’s football/track renovation project.

Woods’ expertise in athletic training has extended to 1987 visits to the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and the 10th Pan American Games in Indianapolis. She served as a volunteer athletic trainer for the Prairie State Games from 1986 until 1993. Woods is a member of Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington where she has participated in the church’s medical ministry weekly and taken part in short-term mission trips to Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Woods earned her B.S.E. in secondary education/health education from Central Missouri State University in 1982. She received her M.S. in physical education with a specialization in athletic training from Illinois State University in 1983.
