Donald W. Bauer, ’54, lettered in football, basketball, and baseball while at Concordia. Bauer led the basketball team in scoring in 1953 and 1954, also earning CIT All-Tournament honors both years and CIT Most Valuable Player in 1954.

            
After leaving Concordia, Bauer earned his master’s from the University of Wisconsin and taught in Lutheran elementary schools for 40 years until his retirement in 1995. He coached flag football, basketball, baseball and track as well during that 40-year period. Bauer also worked as a professional counselor in drug abuse at St. Luke’s Hospital and counseled parents of incorrigible children. He served as a leader of “Tough Love” in Phoenix, Arizona, and as youth director for churches in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Arizona.
