RIVER FOREST, ILL. — After being a huge part of the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's lacrosse team and the Athletic Communications Department as a student worker, Ryan McGee has found herself on a new, incredible path. McGee has been selected to be the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Intern for the 2023-24 academic year. As an intern, she has chosen a specific concentration on communications and social media to better impact the conference members.
"I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and wouldn't have been able to do it without my experience at CUC and the support from family and friends," McGee stated on her new employment. "Playing in the NACC was such a great experience and I cannot wait for this next chapter."
McGee will be responsible for assisting with any and all conference operations with an emphasis on communications, social media, website management, championships, and general administration. In addition to this, she has also chosen to make a distinct preparation for working in Sports Information and learning from many other Athletic Communications Departments in the NACC.
"I'm beyond ecstatic to see Ryan take on a new role within the NACC," McGee's former supervisor, Director of Athletic Communications Kayla McCloud, had to comment. "What she brought to the Athletic Communications Department during her time as a student worker was invaluable, and I'm glad to see her skills put to use elsewhere. Not only is this a great step for Ryan, but it's only going to help our conference continue to thrive and excel upward."
This internship will be running in conjunction with McGee's time as CUC's women's lacrosse and administrative graduate assistant position. Not only will she be a valuable asset to CUC and the inner workings of the administration, she will also have the opportunity to learn from many other Sports Information Directors in the conference.
As the NACC Intern, McGee has already planned to shadow and observe many other NACC school SIDs to learn how different member schools operate on a day-to-day basis. Not only that, she has already begun to help make a more cohesive structuring for the conference to communicate with on game days and protocols.
In addition, McGee will be assisting NACC Commissioner, Jeff Ligney, with assisting conference members with their school's Student Athlete Advisory Committees. At this time, she has already begun to help plan the conferences' yearly Cans Across Conference. This is a can drive run by the member school's SAACs to help assist local food banks.
As a four-year member of the CUC women's lacrosse team, McGee was known for being a lights out goalie for the Cougars. In her senior season, she crossed the 300 career saves mark after a plethora of incredible outings. She also ended her time as a Cougar with five NACC Defensive Player of the Week and three NACC All-Conference First Team honors.
McGee will continue to be a huge part of the Cougar community, both as a coach and graduate assistant, as well as at the conference level.
