Cougars Return Home for Cornell

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Concordia-Chicago men's lacrosse team will hit return home to take on Cornell College this weekend in MLC action.

Face off is set to start at 1 p.m. (CST) inside Concordia Stadium with live coverage available at cucougars.com/coverage

Last Time Out... The Cougars dropped a tough one earlier this week, falling 23-2 to reigning MLC champions Aurora University. Hunter Combe and Jordan Loeffler came up with CUC's two goals, as Jack Liskey stopped 19 shots.

Scouting the Rams... Cornell is 1-1 on the year thus far, as the Rams traveled south to play a pair of games in Dallas,Texas earlier this week. With a 14-9 win over University of Dallas, Cornell's Brendan Langmack tallied four goals and Quinten Howe picked up 11 saves. Ram Jack Bilenduke has four goals and an assist on the year as well, standing as Cornell's current leading scorer. From the face off circle, CUC's Boston Dumas will take on George Ziama who is 19-of-48 through two games so far.

Liskey's Mask... With big expectations coming into his sophomore year, it took just one week for Jack Liskey to reclaim his throne. Reigning MLC Defensive Player of the Week has combined for 57 saves already this season. His efforts in net against the Stormy Petrels in CUC's opener helped the Cougars compete in the program's first ever overtime contest. With Liskey's MLC honor, it marked the first time a Cougar men's lacrosse player has ever earned such accolades. Since then, the sophomore has earned one win in net and scored his first ever career goal with an 80-yard launch downfield. Liskey also ranks 44th nationally, averaging 14.25 saves per game.

Ship it Off to Boston... Freshman Boston Dumas has had a stellar start to his career over the first four games of the year, with the rookie leading from the face off circle and winning 46 of 78 face offs. Dumas' face off percentage(.590)  is good for 87th nationally among Division III lacrosse. The Utah native currently leads the team with 32 ground balls and is second on the team in points with six goals and two assists.

A Warm Welcome... Brett Krueger's return to college lacrosse was well-received as the junior currently leads the team in scoring with eight goals and four assists. Finishing his freshman year as CUC's leading scorer, Krueger's season point total currently ranks 10th in the conference, with the Wisconsin native highlighting Concordia-Chicago's win over Carroll by scoring the man-up game-winning goal.

A Season of Firsts... Just four games into the season, the Cougars are already looking to continue breaking barriers for the men's lacrosse program. As the team has competed in its first ever overtime contest, earned its first ever conference Player of the Week honor and tallied its earliest win in a season to date, CUC will now work to build upon its momentum and reach an unprecedented second win of the season.
