Cougar Defense Locks Down But Falcons Still Take Advantage

MEQUON, WIS. – The Concordia University Chicago men's lacrosse team took on the tall task of taking on the sister school rival, Concordia University Wisconsin, falling 18-1.

INSIDE THE BOX
  • Zachary Lewandowski (West Dundee, Ill.) led the Cougars offense as the lone goal scorer for the squad. He tallied one goal on two shots, both of which were on goal, while also picking up two groundballs and causing one turnover.
  • Andrew Lechuga (El Monte, Calif.), Henry Hayes (Oconomowoc, Wis.), and Carter Jedras (Mt Prospect, Ill.) each added one shot as well.
  • Peter Borkowski (St. Louis, Mo.) was the lone goalie for the Cougars while tallying 14 saves in 60 minutes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons wasted no time and put up their first goal immediately off the faceoff. With the Cougars struggling to get their defensive footing, the Falcons would be able to quickly put up five goals in the first quarter. Despite some promising moments from the Cougars, capitalized by two successful clears off four saves from Borkowski the Cougars would head into halftime trailing 11-0.

After the Falcons struck first in the second half, a save from Borkowski turned successful clear gave the Cougars one of their limited offensive opportunities. With Lewandowski picking up a ground ball and pulling himself outside of the defense, he would find space to get a low shot off and find the back of the net to pick up the lone goal of the game.

Locking down on defense, the Cougars were able to hold the Falcons to a mere two goals in the fourth quarter and fall 18-1.

The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday as they head to the Southside for a game under the lights with opening faceoff set for 7:00 pm. Coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.
