Five Goals Not Enough To Make Buccaneers Walk The Plank

River Forest, Ill. — A beautiful day despite some sporadic showers at Cougar Stadium meant a beautiful day for Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Lacrosse action. The Beloit Buccaneers (3-10, 1-6) made the trek to take on the Concordia University Chicago Cougars (0-12, 0-8) and ended up on top of the Cougars 22-5.

Box Score Highlights:
-Five Cougars scored goals in the first half, Carter Jedras (Mt Prospect, Ill.), Henry Hayes (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Zachary Lewandowski (West Dundee, Ill.), Andrew Lechuga (El Monte, Calif.), and Gregory Scott (Asheville, N.C.)

-Seba Miller (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Lewandoski assisted goals in the game.

-Peter Borkowski (St. Louis, Mo.) and Alan Saban (St. Charles, Ill.) grabbed 12 and three saves respectively.

-Jedras picked up five ground balls, and Lechuga caused three turnovers.

How It Happened:

Jedras struck first as he launched a shot past two defenders to put the Cougars on the board 1-0.

The Buccaneers took matters into their own hands and scored four consecutive goals but that did not stop the Cougars. Hayes received a pass from Lewandowski juked out the defense and found the back of the net.

About 30 seconds later, Lewandowski smacked the ball in between the pipes after he received a pass from Miller. Beloit would then go on to score two more of their own bringing the Buccaneer lead 6-3 at the end of the first 15 minutes of play.

In the second quarter, Lechuga took off running towards the goal and launched a shot over his defender, and sniped the ball past the goalie to add his name to the box score. The Cougar defense was unable to stop the Buccaneers as they chipped in two more points before the Cougars found their way back in the scoring column. Scott picked up the last goal for the Cougars as he maneuvered through the Buccaneer defense before launching his shot.

The rest of the entire second half was all in favor of the Buccaneers as they scored six more in the third quarter and three in the fourth.

This concludes the 2024 men's lacrosse season. They finished with an overall record of 0-12 and 0-8 in the conference. Coverage for all things men's lacrosse can be found on Instagram and X @cuchicagolax. Updates in the off-season can be found at cucougars.com.
