Emery Scores Hat Trick, Liskey Collects 26 Saves

Box Score

Concordia University Chicago men's lacrosse (2-8) fell at home on Tuesday to the Illinois Institute of Technology Scarlet Hawks (1-5) by a final score of 13-7.

Junior Bransen Bonnell (South Bend, Ind.) kicked off the scoring with his fourth goal of the season. After Illinois Tech answered a couple minutes later with an equalizer, sophomore Chadd Rowe (Atlanta, Ga.) put the Cougars back out in front with his 10th goal of the year.

Trailing 4-2 nearing the half, sophomore Dylan Mordhorst (Centreville, Va.) found the back of the net for his 14th goal of the year. Illinois Tech answered with a pair of goals in the final minute and a half of the second to take a 6-3 lead to the locker room.

The Cougars struck quickly out of the half, with a goal from freshman Clayton Emery (Fishers, Ind.) to cut the Scarlet Hawks lead to 6-4. They pulled within one just a couple minutes later thanks to another goal from Emery, his 16th of the year, as the team continued to keep the pressure on the Scarlet Hawks.

Trailing by three in the fourth, Emery again found the back of the net to keep CUC within striking distance. This was the closest the Cougars would get, however, as a goal from IIT with just under eight and a half minutes to play made it 9-6.

A Cougar goal was added in the final minute from Rowe, but the Scarlet Hawks emerged 13-7.

Senior Jack Liskey (Crown Point, Ind.) continued his stellar season in net with 26 saves on the afternoon, bringing his career total to 658. It is the second straight game the senior goaltender has made 26 saves, which is his season-high.

The Cougars will be back in action this weekend when they travel to MSOE for a matchup with the Raiders on Saturday. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and coverage will be available on the MSOE athletics website.
