The Concordia University Chicago men's lacrosse team (1-2) continues its road trip on Saturday when it takes on the Trojans of Taylor University (4-2).
The Cougars look to follow a loss to Adrian with a victory for the second time this season. They responded to their first loss with a 15-goal performance against Mount St. Joseph last weekend.
If they are to repeat that performance this weekend, they will need their key offensive players to deliver. Senior Benjamin Lang (West Dundee, Ill.) scored his first career hat trick against Adrian on Wednesday, bringing his total to five on the season. Freshmen Clayton Emery (Fishers, Ind.) also has five goals on the year.
Their most consistent scorer has been sophomore Dylan Mordhorst (Centreville, Va.), who scored a goal in every game, including five over the last two. Freshman Jacob Schnepf (Baltimore, Md.) proved to be an x-factor, with four goals in the Cougars' victory but none in the losses. It will be important for him to get involved in the offense on Saturday if the team wants to get out to an early lead.
Chadd Rowe (Atlanta, Ga.) continues to be a crucial facilitator on offense, leading the team with seven assists. The sophomore also scored in each of CUC's three games this season. His presence on that end of the field certainly opened things up for his teammates.
Taylor is currently receiving votes in the NAIA national poll. They are led by sophomore Emmit Wintek, who has 22 goals on the season, more than double any other player. Their leading assist man is freshman Aidan Craig with 30; he also scored eight goals.
Saturday's game is set to begin at 1 p.m. EST and a stream to the game will be available on the
Taylor University Athletics website.
