Box Score For the first time in 357 days, the Concordia University Chicago men's volleyball team (0-2) was back on their home floor at Geiseman Gymnasium. Tuesday night, they faced the Benedictine University Eagles (2-0) in a Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference matchup.

After the suspension of last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the eagerly awaited 2021 season is now underway and will feature six more matches at home.

In Tuesday's home opener, the Cougars fell in three sets to the Eagles 26-28, 20-25, 19-25.

The first set was incredibly competitive, with the largest lead belonging to the Cougars at 22-17. Both teams saved multiple set points, before the Eagles finally were able to clinch the game. The Cougars kept it close the rest of the way, as neither team led by more than five points at any time in the match until the final point of the match.

Sophomore attacker
Luke Vozenilek (Westmont, Ill.) led the Cougars with eight kills, two blocks and two aces, while senior
Ryan Felbinger (Cicero, Ill.) also contributed another five kills and two blocks.

Rhyen Staley and his squad look to build in this abbreviated season on their very strong 14-3 record from the 2020 campaign.

The men's volleyball team next travels to Rockford University on Thursday with first serve at 7 p.m. Their next home match is scheduled for Friday, March 5 against Dominican University.
