Cougars Look to Win Second Straight at Elmhurst

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Looking to win their second straight game this season, and fifth straight contest dating back to last season, the Concordia-Chicago Cougars will travel to Elmhurst College tomorrow night.

Both live stats and video will be available for tomorrow's match at cucougars.com/coverage. Additional coverage can be found @CUChicagoWLAX on Twitter.

Last Time Out... CUC dominated on opening day, taking home a 16-2 victory over Franklin College last Saturday. In the win, sophomore Emily Cyrwus had a stellar four-goal, 10-draw control performance, while junior Elizabeth Cyrwus recorded the first hat trick of her career. Freshman Rylee Orenstein scored a hat trick of her own to go along with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Freshmen Nina Naes and Madison Perkins each scored a pair of goals in their college lacrosse debuts, while sophomore Dolores Apreda also tallied her first career goal.

Sister Sister... Cyrwus sisters, Emily and Elizabeth, return as CUC's top players from a season ago. Each appearing in all 15 games last season, the duo combined for 65 draw controls, 45 caused turnovers and 79 ground balls in 2019. Already this season, the two have seven goals and four caused turnovers between the two of them.

Scouting the Blue Jays... CUC will face the Blue Jays for the fourth time in program history tomorrow night, as Elmhurst holds the series at a 2-1 advantage. Concordia's lone win against the Blue Jays came in 2017, when the Cougars won 10-7, after erasing an early 3-0 lead for Elmhurst. Last season the Blue Jays were 1-13 and are 0-1 thus far this year, after losing 18-4 to Beloit College last weekend.

On Tap... After tomorrow night at Elmhurst, Concordia-Chicago will gear up for conference play, beginning this Saturday at 3 p.m. In the team's final season of membership in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference, before joining the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference next season, CUC will take on second-year program Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis. The Cougars will look to build on their 2019, 8-5 conference record.
