CUC Awaits Eagles Tonight, Looking for Series Split

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- With the dust settled from the excitement of last week's CIT, the Concordia-Chicago men's basketball team is gearing up to take on the Eagles of Edgewood College tonight inside Geiseman Gymnasium.

Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m., with CJ Selner and Carter Gledhill on the call on the Cougar Sports Network. Complete coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage and @cuc_menhoops on Twitter.

The Latest... CUC has dropped its last five contests, four of which have been NACC conference games. Looking to get back to their winning ways tonight, the Cougars are now 5-7 in conference play and 6-11 overall. With their five conference victories, Concordia-Chicago currently sits in seventh place, just one seed out of clinching a conference tournament berth. CUC's early season victories over Wisconsin Lutheran and then No. 24 Benedictine hold heavy-weight heading into the final weeks of regular season play.

Bird Watch... The Cougars last took on Edgewood back on Dec. 1, and fell to the Eagles by way of 86-70. In their last 24 meetings, the Eagles have taken 18 of the match ups against the Cougars, with CUC last defeating Edgewood in January of 2017. This season, the Eagles are 5-12 overall and are led by juniors Jake Negus and Ben Seefeld. The duo averages 15.6 and 19.1 points per game, respectively. Last time out against the Cougars, both Negus and Seefeld dropped 30+ points, while Seefeld shot 7-of-9 from beyond the arc that night. Negus has 999 career points to date, just one shy of reaching the 1,000 career points benchmark.

Cougar Tape... Looking to snap their five-game drought, CUC will rely heavily on its high-powered offense and precise three-point shooting to evade the Eagles. Second in the NACC in both points per game (80.6) and three-point field goal percentage (36.6%), Concordia-Chicago's offense is driven by Raushaun Amos and Landen Gladney, who each tab 14.7 and 14.6 points per game, respectively. In fact, the last game in which Amos did not score in double figures was against the Edgewood Eagles back in December. Xeo Golding and Brent Hatten are also key pieces to CUC's success, as the duo averages double-figures in scoring per game, while sophomore Izak Ruddell leads the Cougars, and the NACC, with a 51.5 three-point shooting percentage.
