Last Time Out... In a phsyical match up against Marian last weekend, both CUC and the Sabres combined for 15 penalties. Ultimately, the Cougars fell 19-10 to Marian, with
Brett Krueger and
Hunter Combe combining for eight of CUC's 10 goals.
Scouting the Eagles... Facing Northwestern will be a match up between the #6 and #7 seeds in the conference standings. With a 2-3 record in MLC play, the Eagles sit just behind CUC among the playoff push. Currently, Northwestern averages 17.19 goals scored per game, while holding opponents to 12.29. Leading the Eagles are Kellar Stephens and Noah Vander Kooi, who have 28 and 27 goals, respectively. The duo also combines for 75 of the team's 173 total points on the year.
Do It Like Dumas... Freshman
Boston Dumas has had a stellar start to his career over the first half of the season, with the rookie leading from the face off circle and winning 124 out of 185 face offs taken. Dumas' face off percentage (.670) is good for the 23rd nationally, among Division III lacrosse and top three in the MLC. The Utah native currently leads the team with 93 ground balls and is ninth in the country with 10.33 ground balls per game. After scoring eight goals and one assist against Cornell, Dumas shattered CUC's record for most goals and points scored in a single game.
