RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- With their 2019 season finale doubling as senior day, the Concordia-Chicago women's lacrosse team will play host to MWLC opponent Benedictine University tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
Complete coverage will be available beginning at 8:45 a.m. at
cucougars.com/coverage with senior day celebrations taking place during halftime of the contest.
Last Time Out... On a two-game win streak, the Cougars last took to the field on Saturday when they defeated Wartburg College 16-4 on the road.
Margaret Doane and
Anna Kellar led the way for CUC, as they each finished the day with six goals apiece.
Emily Cyrwus and
Sandra Acevedo each had two points, while
Sydney Fuller had six points from one goal and five assists. With two more assists, Fuller will have broken her own program record for most assists dished in a single season.
Scouting the Eagles... Benedictine will look to pick up their first win of the season against the Cougars tomorrow, as the Eagles are 0-14 on the year and averaging 8.64 goals scored per game. The Eagles' offense is shared between six different goal scorers, with double-digit goals, but led by Madison Horan and Kaylee Garcia who have 30 and 24 points, respectively. Horan will pose as a threat across the field for CUC too, as the senior has a team-high 29 ground balls, 31 caused turnovers and 28 draw controls.
Veteran Value... The women's lacrosse program will say farewell to five student-athletes during tomorrow's game, as
Anna Kellar,
Margaret Doane,
Sydney Fuller,
Sandra Acevedo and
Jazmin Betancourt have been staples within the program since its beginnings, four years ago. Betancourt has been a member of the squad for the last two seasons, while Kellar, Doane, Fuller and Acevedo have been massive contributors for four straight seasons. Between the five, they have led the women's lacrosse program to new heights as the 2019 squad has become the winningest team in program history.
