RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Concordia-Chicago men's lacrosse team will get a second chance at opening day, as the Cougars travel to Cincinnati, Ohio tomorrow to take on the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University.

Scouting Oglethorpe... The Stormy Petrels are 1-1 on the start to their season, with a 6-2 victory over Averett last weekend. With an aggressive style of play, Ogelthorpe and Averett combined for 24 penalties in the match up. On the year, Andrew Collins and Cameron Ritter lead their squad with four goals apiece and Addison Irwin leads from inside the net with 35 saves and a 63.6 save percentage.  

Offense Strikes Back... The Cougars return 27 of their 32 goals from last season, with Jordan Loeffler and Hunter Combe leading the pack having each scored 12 goals apiece in 2018. Loeffler and Combe finished the season with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Benjamin Lang was another key contributor, with Lang dishing a team-high seven assists last year. 

Unprecedented Depth... CUC's roster is bigger than ever before, listing 19 Cougars ready to gear up for the 2019 season. In the program's three previous seasons, CUC has averaged a roster size of 13-14 men. With depth at nearly every position, freshman Boston Dumas is expected to be a large contributor at the face-off position in addition to Loeffler, who won 28 face-offs last year. 

Liskey's Mask... One of Concordia-Chicago's biggest keys to success this year will be between the pipes, with sophomore Jack Liskey returning as goalie for the Cougars after making 221 saves last season. At the conclusion of the 2018 Division III season, Liskey finished his freshman year ranked 12th in the nation, averaging 14.59 saves per game.
