RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Concordia-Chicago women's lacrosse team is gearing up to kick off the 2019 season tomorrow afternoon at Concordia Ann Arbor, with Head Coach
Russell Allen in his first year at the helm of the program.

Guess Who's Back... Despite completing her undergraduate degree last spring, graduate student
Anna Kellar returns to the field for the Cougars in 2019 for her final season of eligibility. In her tenure, the Collinsville, Ill. native has combined for 100 goals and currently holds the program record for career goals. A threat all across the field, Kellar has also won 103 draw controls for the maroon and gold, while causing 74 turnovers.
Scouting the Cardinals... Concordia Ann Arbor and the Cougars will open up their seasons against one another, with the Cardinals coming off a 3-13 record in 2018. CUAA returns its leading scorer this year, with junior Abbey Turner tallying 25 goals and one assist to finish her sophomore season with 26 points. Turner also led Ann Arbor in three other statistical categories during 2018, with 27 ground balls, 12 forced turnovers and 30 draw controls.
Last Time Out... The last time the two Concordia rivals went head-to-head, the Cougars came out on top with a 12-9 victory on March 4, 2018 in River Forest. CUC had five different goal scorers during the contest with Kellar leading the way with five goals. In addition,
Margaret Doane tallied three goals of her own and
Elizabeth Cyrwus added two, while
Sandra Acevedo and
Sydney Fuller each had one goal apiece. Fuller also dished the team's five assists on the day.
Allen's Bio Blast... While in his first season leading the CUC women's lacrosse program, Head Coach
Russell Allen is entering his fifth year as head coach of a collegiate program. Previously, Allen led the Mavericks of Medaille College out of Buffalo, NY for the past four seasons. The Orange, Conn. native is coming off a Coach of the Year campaign and back-to-back regular season titles in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
