Series Stackup... CUC has dropped its last four contests to the Warriors, most recently defeating Wisconsin Lutheran in December of 2015. In the 89-85 Cougar win, then freshman Mitch Pelissier had 12 points, four steals and two blocks. Last time out against WLC, the Cougars fell 111-102 in an overtime battle.
Seeing is Believing... First year athlete and Chicago native Landen Gladney has had an electric start for the Cougars through the first six games of his collegiate career. Nationally, Gladney is tied for second with six double-doubles so far this season, and is just one of eight players to tally six or more. Of the eight athletes with six or more double-doubles, Gladney is the only one who has reached this feat in each game he has played in. In opening up his career with a perfect 6-for-6 in double-double performances, Gladney's efforts are seemingly unprecedented at the Division III level.
Around the Horn... In the NACC, the Cougars are first among scoring offenses, averaging 89.8 points per game. CUC's points per game average is also good for 25th, out of 416 teams, across Division III basketball. CUC also stands 12th in the nation, averaging 32.33 defensive rebounds per game.
One-Two Punch...Cougar studs Jalen Meeks and Mitch Pelissier pack a punch when running the floor together. The duo ranks first and second, respectively, in points per game average with 23.5 and 21.3. Since Pelissier has appeared in all six of CUC's games this season, his points per game average ranks 51st nationally. In addition, after earning NACC Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Meeks tallied his fourth career double-double on Wednesday night.
