CHICAGO, Ill. – The Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's track and field team opened the new year in Chicago, competing at the Phoenix Invitational, hosted by University of Chicago. It was a strong start to 2026, with multiple top performances.
Notable Performances
- Ashley Vasquez (Riverside, Ill.) led the Cougars with a silver medal performance in the 400m, running a 1:05.32. Addi McKee secured fifth with a personal best time of 1:11.84 while Amya Marquez (Berwyn, Ill.) finished sixth with a time of 1:17.83.
- In the 60m preliminaries, Vasquez and Madison Hipshire (Riverview, Mich.) both set personal records, finishing fifth and eighth, respectively. Vasquez ran an 8.41 while Hipshire recorded a time of 8.71.
- Hipshire also took fifth in the 200m with a time of 28.78. Teammate, Aniyah Isom (Chicago, Ill.), came in just behind with a time of 28.81.
- Taking third in the 60m hurdles was Devynn Woywod (Berwyn, Ill.) with a time of 12.78.
- In the high jump, Harmonie Cooper (Chicago, Ill.) finished fourth, tying her personal best leap of 1.48m. Coming in fifth place was Noor Sammour (Berwyn, Ill.) with a leap of 1.43m.
- Kirsten Bockhorst (Union, Mo.) placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 4.85m. Isom finished eighth with a mark of 4.76m.
- With a mark of 9.55m, Velda Ndang (Plainfield, Ill.) finished seventh in the shot put.
