RIVER FOREST, Ill. – One member of the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) women's track & field team has earned her spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, and that was
Noor Sammour (Berwyn, Ill.). She excelled both on the track and in the classroom this season. To make the CSC Academic All-District team, student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or above in order to be nominated.
This season, Sammour excelled, knocking down two school records in her senior season campaign. During the indoor season, she secured six top 10 finishes in the high jump and broke her own school record in the event. On Feb. 21, the Cougars competed at the Margaret Bradley Invitational. Sammour took fourth place, with a new record leap of 1.58m, besting the previous benchmark of 1.53m. This leap ranked 15
th on the NCAA DIII Midwest Region Indoor Performance List. As the weather warmed up and the outdoor season began, Sammour continued to shine brightly. She placed top 10 in the high jump in all seven competitions and top five in four of them. At the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) Outdoor Championships, she received NACC All-Conference honors for finishing fourth in the jump with a mark of 1.52m. Just a week later, on May 8, Sammour competed at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite. There, she broke the 37-year-old high jump record of 1.57m with a fantastic leap of 1.58m, etching her name into the top of the record book. With this leap, she also ranked 19
th in the NCAA DIII Midwest Region Outdoor Performance List. As an elementary education major, Sammour graduated with a 3.77 GPA.
