RIVER FOREST, ILL. -- Two members of the Concordia University Chicago men's volleyball team have earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Tyler Holubek (New Lenox, Ill.) and
Van Gaetto (Darien, Ill.) each excelled on the court and in the classroom this season. To make the CSC Academic All-District Team student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or above in order to be nominated. Both Holubek and Gaetto have been selected to move onto the All-America ballot that will be voted on by CSC members and announced on July 9th.
Holubek secured his second Academic All-District recognition after earning the honor in 2023. This season, Holubek made his return to the court for the Cougars and helped bring a great deal of success for the squad. Holubek led the team offensively, picking up 323 total kills while finishing first in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) in total points, second in total kills and kills per set, and 15th in digs. As a key member in helping the Cougars earn a spot in the NACC tournament, Holubek earned NACC All-Conference First Team honors. As a graduate student, Holubek has accumulated a 4.00 GPA.
Gaetto earned his first Academic All-District recognition for his contributions as the primary libero for the year. This season Gaetto led the team in digs with 289 and digs per set with 2.78 while finishing third in the NACC in both categories. Additionally, he finished the season top two in assists and assists per set. Most notably, Gaetto broke three school records this season now holding the record for individual career digs with 518, single-season digs with 289, and single season digs per set with 2.78. As a communications major, Gaetto completed his undergraduate degree with a 3.94 GPA.
