RIVER FOREST, ILL. -- For the last week of the regular season,
Alyssa Campos (Eastvale, Calif.) picked up Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Position Player of the Week.
Campos carried the Cougar offense this week, posting a .571 batting average and a 1.071 slugging percentage. The freshman picked up eight hits and seven RBIs with two runs of her own. Campos is responsible for the walkoff hit that gave the Cougars the game one win over Dominican on Saturday while going three-for-three at the plate. In game two against Dominican, the Cougars trailed the Stars heading into the bottom of the 10th inning, where a two RBI single from Campos would provide the walkoff win yet again. Despite two losses to CUW on Sunday, Campos picked up her first career home run in game one that served as the lone run scored for the Cougars. In game two, Campos would once again go long and pick up the lone run yet again with her second career home run. In the field, Campos had a clean week with 4 putouts, 8 assists, and no errors.Â
The Cougars will head into the postseason as the #4 seed where they will take the field at 4:00pm on Thursday, May 8th, as they await their opponent from the single elimination game earlier in the day.
