RIVER FOREST, ILL. -- Five members of the Concordia University Chicago softball team have earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. 
Ashley Shroll (Tampa, Fla.), 
Arissa Santos (Moreno Valley, Calif.) and 
Jessica Geng (Phoenix, Ariz.), McKyler Morris (Belvidere, Ill.), and 
Eden Pufahl (Laguna Hills, Calif.) all excelled on the field and in the classroom this season. To make the CSC Academic All-District Team student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or above in order to be nominated. 
Shroll picked up her first CSC Academic All-District recognition after rounding out her career strong inside the circle for the Cougars. As the primary arm, Shroll finished the year with a 3.98 ERA, 68.2 innings pitched, and 33 strikeouts. She held her opponents to a .308 batting average against her while collecting four complete games, two saves, and five total wins on the season. Offensively, Shroll finished the season with a .271 batting average off 19 hits, 13 runs, and nine RBIs. This season, Shroll pitched her first career no hitter against Concordia-Moorhead on March 6th. As a business major, Shroll rounded out her career with a 3.52 GPA.
Santos picked up her second consecutive recognition on the All-District team. Seeing time at shortstop in all 41 games on the season, she finished with a .260 batting average off 32 hits, 22 runs, and 21 RBIs. Santos led the team in home runs with four on the season, tying with Morris. This season, she had a career tying six assists against Milwaukee School of Engineering on May 8th while picking up a career high two stolen bases against Alverno on April 6th. As a psychology major, Santos has accumulated a 3.96 GPA.
Geng
 earned her third consecutive recognition on the All-District team after rounding out her career with All-NACC Second Team recognition for a star-studded senior season. As the primary catcher for the Cougars, Geng finished the season with a .386 batting average, the second highest on the team. Geng also started and appeared in all 41 games this year while seeing a team-high 127 at bats while collecting 49 hits, 29 RBIs, and 70 total bases. She led the team in doubles with 15 while going a perfect six-for-six on stolen bases. In the field, Geng was responsible for 88 putouts, eight assists, caught three runners stealing, and only allowed one passed ball for a fielding percentage of .932. This season, Geng recorded a career high four runs scored against Mount Mary on March 3rd. As a business major, Geng rounded out her career with a 3.86 GPA. 
Morris was the lone Cougar named to All-NACC First Team for her strong sophomore season. Primarily working as a centerfielder for the Cougars, Morris started and appeared in all 41 games this season for the Cougars while finishing the season with a .411 batting average, the highest among all Cougars. Additionally, she led the team in hits with 50, RBIs with 33, and home runs with four. This season, Morris recorded a career high seven RBIs, five putouts, four hits, and two home runs against Dominican University on May 3rd. As a marketing major, Morris has accumulated a 3.95 GPA.
Pufahl picked up her first postseason honor after boasting the team low ERA this season. She appeared in 21 games with seven starts, four of which were inside the circle. From there, Pufahl pitched 41.1 total innings with 12 strikeouts. She closed the season with a 3.73 ERA and three wins while holding her opponents to a .310 batting average against her. As a kinesiology major, Pufahl has accumulated a 3.62 GPA. 
Geng and Morris have been selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and they will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members, which will be announced on June 17th.
