Box Score 2 River Forest, Ill. - The Concordia University Chicago Cougars stayed at home to compete on their senior night. The schedule had two games for the day. Game one started at 10:00 am against the Edgewood Eagles and game two started at 2:00 pm against Cornell College. The Cougars lost both games 7-0.
Here's What Happened
Game One
Doubles
The Cougars were unable to get a win in doubles matches. However, putting up a good fight for the Cougars was the duos of Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) and Tatiana Overton (Bolingbrook, Ill.), as well as Amirah Shakir (Dekalb, Ill.) and Kamila Giza (East Dundee, Ill.). Both duos were able to score three points in their respective matches but fell short. In both matches the Cougars fell 6-3.
Singles
In singles matches, again we saw the Cougars were unable to score a point.
Putting up a respective battle in her singles match was Overton who went into three rounds of play. Round one Overton fell 6-1, but in round two she came back with vengeance and did the same as her opponent did to her. She took round two 6-1 and went into a third round looking for a victory. Unfortunately, she fell in the third round and was unable to take the win for the Cougars.
The Cougars took a short break and later headed into their second game of the day.
Game Two
Doubles
Similar to game one, none of the Cougar duos were able to secure a win but there were two matches worthy of shoutouts. The duo of Shakir and Giza and the duo of Evian Dubon (Franklin Park, Ill.) and Mary Curtis (Worden, Ill.) put up great fights but ultimately fell, each duo team lost 6-3.
Singles
In singles, again we saw Cougars unable to grab a win, but we saw a great fight from Shakir who went into three rounds in her respective match. Shakir took round one 6-2. Going into round two, her opponent gave her a taste of her own medicine and she fell 6-2, forcing a third round. Unfortunately, her opponent maintained momemtun and Shakir fell in round three of the match.
