CHICAGO HEIGHTS, ILL. — Opening day has come for the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) men's tennis team. They traveled to Chicago Heights today to take on junior college, Prairie State. The Cougars fell in their opening match with a score of 8-0.
In the doubles matches, Reynaldo Leal (Weslaco, Texas) and Joshua Wright (Danville, Ill.), as well as Nathan Stringer (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Diego Loveshe (Franklin Park, Ill.), took a point in each match. However, both pairings would fall in their first matches of the season.
Moving on to singles, Loveshe and Kevin Januska (Bolingbrook, Ill.) had strong outings in their matchups. Loveshe brought his match to a tiebreaker and ultimately fell for both points with scores of 7-6 (2) and 6-3. Januska also brought some first round action as he fell into a tiebreaker for a staggering nine points. However, he would also end up falling with a score of 7-6 (9) and 6-4.
