Box Score River Forest, Ill. -- Concordia University Chicago Women's Tennis hosted their first home meet in nearly two calendar years on Sunday, falling 9-0 at the hands of the Marian University Sabres.
As with each match so far on the young season, the team continued to show signs of improvement. The 28 games won on Sunday are more than CUC had in their first three matches combined.
Perhaps the most noteworthy performance came from sophomore Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.), who won eight total games across her two single sets. She battled hard in the first set, grabbing five games and forcing her opponent to win seven as opposed to the usual six.
Fellow sophomore Danzcel Gerona (Bartlett, Ill.) was impressive again, winning five games during singles play. Kamila Giza (River Grove, Ill.) continued her strong start to her freshman campaign, winning seven games during singles and helping secure two of the three doubles victories for the Cougars.

The final doubles point came from the duo of sophomore Mackenzie Straulin (Johnsburg, Ill.) and junior Jacquelyn Rocha (Waukegan, Ill.).
The team will be back in action again next Saturday, Oct. 2, in Milwaukee, Wis., taking on Alverno College and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
