The Concordia University Chicago men's volleyball team (2-5) hit the road as they took on Marian University (7-0) in a conference match. After four sets, the Cougars left Fond du Lac, Wis. with a 1-3 loss.
Â
Both teams battled against one another throughout all four sets. In the first, the Sabres and Cougars went back and forth, with neither team grabbing the lead. It wasn't until the game went into extra points where Marian took a step ahead, winning 27-25. They then carried that momentum into the second as they Sabres beat the Cougars 25-18.
Â
Once the third set rolled around, Concordia fought back. The Cougars grabbed an early lead and ran with it. Although the Sabres climbed back in towards the end of the set, a service run from CUC gave them the much-need advantage to get the 25-18 win.
Â
The fourth and final set was similar to the first. The Cougars and Sabres each had control of the game at various points, with the two teams being tied at 24 late in the fourth. Some missed hits from the Cougars ultimately resulted in the 26-24 loss for CUC.
