Box Score 2 Milwaukee, Wis. -- The Concordia University Chicago women's tennis team competed in a doubleheader today as they took on Alverno College and University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
In the Cougars' first win of the season over Alverno College, the teams of
Ali Wingood (Chicago, Ill.) and
Kamila Giza (River Grove, Ill.),
Natalie Jensen (North Riverside, Ill), and
Jessica Parker (Lake in the Hills, Ill.), and
Emily Cyrwus (Chicago, Ill.) and
Mackenzie Straulin (Johnsburg, Ill.) each won their sets 3-8, 4-8, and 2-8, respectively. During singles action, Wingood, Giza, Danzel Gerona (Bartlett, Ill.) and
Madison Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) won their sets, which resulted in the 7-2 victory over the Inferno. University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point swept the Cougars 9-0 in the second match of the day.
According to senior Cyrwus, "It was a bad day to be a tennis ball."
The women will be back in action at home tomorrow to take on the Lakeland University Muskies. They will compete at the Tennis and Fitness Center in Oak Park, Ill. First serve will be at 9 a.m.
