Box Score River Forest, Ill. -- The Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team (1-7-2, 1-3-2) played host to the Raiders of the Milwaukee School of Engineering (10-2, 6-0) on Saturday, falling by a final score of 3-0.
The Raiders opened up the scoring in the 13th minute on a two-on-one breakaway set up by an assist. The Cougars were unable to answer over the final 77 minutes of action, mustering a handful of scoring chances. Seven saves from junior goalkeeper Kassie Silenzi (Carpentersville, Ill.) helped keep the game within reach throughout.
The majority of the action took place in Cougar territory, but the CUC midfielders and defenders were effective in not letting the ball get in deep at too high of a rate.
Notes
-
CUC had two shots on goal from sophomores Itzel Calderon (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and Lucia Fullone (Lake in the Hills, Ill.).
-
It was Silenzi's fourth-straight game with at least six saves.
The team is back in action this Wednesday, Oct. 6, at home against Rockford. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and a stream will be available on the
CUC Athletics YouTube channel.
