RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Off to an impressive 8-3 start in 2020, the Concordia University Chicago Men's Volleyball team returns to Geiseman Gymnasium after an eight match road swing. The Cougars will play three home matches this week, beginning tomorrow night against Trinity Christian before welcoming Maranatha Baptist and Augustana to River Forest on Saturday.

Last time out: The Cougars are coming off of a four set win over Rockford last Friday night. CUC cruised through the first two sets before dropping set three 25-23. The Cougars then put on one of their most complete sets of the year, downing Rockford 25-15 in set four. Freshman
Luke Vozenilek led the team with 21 kills on the night while
Trent Weber recorded a season high 50 assists.
Freshman Phenom: Freshman
Luke Vozenilek has quickly asserted himself as one of the top offensive threats in the country. He currently ranks first in the NACC and second in the country with 4.79 kills per set and 5.38 points per set. Additionally he is hitting .365 on the season which is tops in the NACC and 21
st in the NCAA. He is also tied for the team lead with 14 service aces this season.
Scouting the Competition: The Cougars will open the week against and NAIA opponent in Trinity Christian. The Trolls come into Thursday night's match 9-7 overall and winners of three of their last four. Junior Djordje Novakovic leads the team with 152 kills on the season. The Cougars first opponent on Saturday will be Maranatha Baptist. Currently the Sabercats are 7-10 overall with a match against CUW on tap Thursday night. They are currently riding a four match winning streak following the loss to CUC on February 15. The final opponent, the Augustana Vikings are 8-6 overall as of Wednesday. They will have three matches before they square off with CUC on Saturday afternoon. Jason Szara leads the team with 124 kills on the season.
Up Next: Following this week, the Cougars will play five straight NACC matches. The first of those comes on Tuesday March 3 inside Geiseman Gymnasium. CUC will take on the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech, with opening serve set for 7:00pm.
