River Forest, Ill.- Concordia University Chicago (1-0) opened up their 2020 season with a home matchup against Adrian College (4-2). The Bulldogs came into the match with a couple of games already under their belt. CUC looked to be the more experienced team throughout the night and would win their first match of the season in four sets (25-21, 25-27, 25-14, 25-23).
Turning Point:
- With the score 8-6 in set three, CUC would go on a 12-1 run and assert their dominance for the rest of set three (25-14), and into set four (25-21).

nside the Box Score:
- Freshman Luke Vozenilek led the way with 17 kills in his first collegiate match. Following Vozenilek was Brian Perez (13), and Ryan Felbinger (8).
- Trent Weber (28) and Matthew Geiser (16) combined for 44 assists on the night.
- CUC overcame a tough performance serving with gritty defense and great play by their front line.
- The Cougars put much needed pressure on Adrian's defense, forcing them to commit 12 reception errors in four sets.
- In set three, Concordia-Chicago recorded a hitting percentage of .500. opposed to the Bulldogs who recorded a poor .000.

- In the first set, play started off going back and forth. At 12-12 CUC started edging a small lead by scoring three straight and extending it to 15-12.
- From there, the Cougars would close out the Bulldogs with a monster kill from Brian Perez that was set up by Vozenilek to win 25-21.
- Set two was neck and neck throughout. Adrian would hold the largest lead of the set (2) up until it was 19-18 in favor of CUC.
- Concordia-Chicago's aggressive play would force a timeout, but they would be thwarted by a Bulldog run and find themselves trailing 24-22.
- CUC would push the set past 25 but fall 27-25.
- Moving onto the third set, Concordia-Chicago heated up fast. With the score 8-6 they would go on a 12-1 run and distance themselves for the rest of the way, winning 25-14.
- Finally, set four would follow the same narrative, and CUC would walk out victorious 25-23.
