Setting the Scene... In a playoff-like atmosphere, CUC last met Aurora under the lights at Spartan Athletic Park on Oct. 24, 2018. Needing a win to clinch a berth into the NACC playoffs, the Cougars shined under pressure and came out with a 3-1 road victory, thanks to goals from
Samantha Wozniak and
Cecilia Kochanek. Last season's win is CUC's only victory against the Spartans in its program history. Aurora holds the all-time series at 18-1-2.
Scouting the Spartans... Through non-conference play, Aurora is 2-5 on the year, including 1-3 on the road. As the Spartans enter Cougar country, they are averaging 1.29 goals per game. With Kelsey Deck in net, the freshman has 36 saves and a .720 save percentage through nearly 623 minutes of work. Offensively, Alexis Abelove and Abby Kay have led the Spartans with six and four points, respectively.
New Season... With a difficult non-conference schedule behind them, the Cougars are looking ahead to conference play. In the 2018 campaign, which included a quarterfinals playoff appearance, CUC captured all six of its wins during the conference portion of the season. Fast forward to 2019, Concordia-Chicago is still looking for its first win of the year just in time for NACC play to start up. CUC's junior class continues to light the way for the Cougars, as all 17 of the team's points have come from a junior class member.
