April 13, 2019 - The Concordia-Chicago men's tennis team hosted Wisconsin Lutheran College for their third conference match of the season. Circumstances left the Cougars with just three available players today, but the teams agreed to play anyway. The Cougars fought with determination, but the Warriors would take the victory by a score of 5-2.
The lone doubles match to be played pitted
Orlando Hayes and
Peter Rios against Jonny Wordell and Matt Plaski. The Cougars' senior/freshman combo went 1-1 in last weekend's matches, and they pulled off win number two today with an 8-7 (7-5) victory, staving off a late WLC push.
In singles play, Rios claimed CUC's other point, defeating Plaski at second flight by scores of 6-0, 6-4. Hayes fell to Wordell 1-6, 2-6 at number one, and David Ullerich topped
Andrew Rodriguez 6-3, 6-3 at third. The Cougars defaulted to the Warriors ar fourth and fifth singles as well as second doubles.
The Cougars were also scheduled to play Concordia University Wisconsin today. It is not yet certain whether the match will be rescheduled. CUC will make up its previously postponed dates versus the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Edgewood College on Monday.
