Men's Volleyball Continues Long Road Swing This Weekend

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – After fighting tough against a top 25 opponent in North Central earlier this week, the Concordia University Chicago Men's Volleyball team returns to NACC action tonight against Concordia University Wisconsin and tomorrow afternoon against Illinois tech. CUC looks to pick up their first ever NACC win over the two matches.
 

About the Cougars: The Concordia University Chicago Cougars come in 4-4 overall and 0-2 in NACC play. After opening up on a four game win streak CUC has dropped their last four against stiff competition. Last time out CUC took on ninth ranked North Central College on the road Wednesday night. CUC finds themselves right in the middle of their 15 game road swing to begin the programs history. The Cougars do not play their home opener until March 9. Nick Capers leads the CUC offense this season with 102.5 points on 93 kills. Matthew Geiser leads CUC with 193 assists on the season while Trent Weber has 73 digs.
 
About the Falcons: The Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons come into the match Friday night 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the NACC. The second year program picked up a big upset win this week when they defeated 13th ranked MSOE in five sets. Freshman James Althoff made history early this week when he was named Sports Import/AVCA and NACC Player of the Week, both of which are firsts in program history. He leads the team with 94 kills on the season to go along with 69 digs. Freshman Connor Muff leads the team with 221 assists on the year.
 
About the Scarlet Hawks:  The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks come into the weekend 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the NACC. They will take on Marian University on Friday night before facing the Cougars on Saturday. Last time out they fell in four sets to fifth ranked Dominican. Andriy Bench leads the team with 56 kills on the young season followed by Easton Kays with 48. Michael Ganczar leads the team with 146 assists on the season while Derek Bostic has 33 digs.
 
Up Next: The Cougars will continue their season opening 15 game road swing on Thursday night when they head to fifth ranked Benedictine. Opening serve is set for 7:30pm from Lisle.
