Playoff Push Continues as Cougars Head to Stars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- In another installment of the Division Street Rivalry, the Concordia-Chicago Cougars are slated to travel down the road tomorrow and take on Dominican University.

Game time is slated for 3 p.m., approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the 12:30 p.m. men's match up. Live coverage can be found at cucougars.com/coverage.

Last Week... Coming off a 1-1 week, the Cougars picked up a big win on Saturday defeating WLC in a 1-0 gridlock. Senior Gabriella Wagoner found the back of the net early for her third career goal, and CUC held off the Warriors in the end to pick up three crucial NACC points. Earlier in the week, Concordia dropped a match to Illinois Tech after going up 1-0 in the first half, but ultimately falling 2-1.
Setting the Scene... CUC and the Stars will meet for the 22nd time in program history. With Dominican leading the all-time series at 15-6, Concordia-Chicago will look to defeat the Stars for the first time since 2016. In a 3-1 win that took place at Dominican that season, then freshman, now senior, Meghan Vasseur helped lead the Cougars to victory with a goal in the 71st minute of play.

Star Light, Star Bright... With a 9-0 conference stature and already clinching a playoff berth, Dominican has lost just once this season to UW-Osh Kosh in a 3-1 defeat. Averaging 4.20 goals per game, the Stars are led by Regan Coxon and Josseline Williams who have 45 and 42 total points, respectively. The duo leads the NACC and are both among the top-20 goal scorers in all of Division III women's soccer. In goal, netminder Abbey Brown has a conference low 0.66 goals allowed average. She also ranks 56th nationally.

Standings Watch... Currently sixth in the NACC standings, the Cougars will need to continue to work for points in order to clinch a playoff berth. With Benedictine two seeds below CUC, but holding the tiebreaker, Concordia-Chicago will need to pick up key wins through the last three games of the regular season.
