RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Concordia-Chicago women's soccer team is prepared to take on Wisconsin Lutheran College tomorrow morning, in Milwaukee, in a battle to remain in playoff contention.
Last Time Out: The Cougars dropped a heartbreaker earlier this week, in a 1-0 overtime loss to MSOE. After 90 minutes of regulation, CUC led in shots 11-10. However, the Raiders would need just 1:17 of extra time to settle the shot count and net the golden goal.Â
Looming Contention: Concordia-Chicago currently sits seventh in the conference standings, just behind Benedictine. In order to qualify for the NACC tournament, the Cougars must remain among the top six teams. Wisconsin Lutheran also has a 4-3 conference record, and with Benedictine unable to qualify for postseason play, a victory over the Warriors would grant the Cougars security heading into the last week of the regular season.
Kroll's Show: Senior keeper
Madeline Kroll has been a crucial part of the Cougars' mid season success. After earning the NACC's Defensive Athlete of the Week for her 2-0 week, the Geneva, Ill. native also had a great performance on Wednesday against MSOE. She had four big saves for the Cougars, despite the 1-0 loss.Â
All-Time vs. WLC: The Cougars have historically dominated the series with WLC, leading 10-5-2. With the series dating back to September of 2001, the Cougars have not suffered a loss to the Warriors since 2008.Â
Follow the Leader: Sophomore
Esmeralda Torres currently leads the Cougar offense with four goals and one assist. Five of her last nine points came from last week, including a game-winning goal over IIT and a game-winning assist against Edgewood.
