Men's Tennis Aced by Cardinals in Non-Conference Play

April 20, 2016 - The Concordia-Chicago men's tennis team returned to the home courts this afternoon for the first of three matches over the next four days. The opponent was North Central College, as They provided a tuneup for the two conference matches coming this weekend. Unfortunately, the Cougars were subdued by the Cardinals by a final score of 9-0.

In singles play, Ariel Manjarrez (Berwyn, IL/Morton West) played the closest set, falling to Victor Krueger by an 8-3 score. Alex Vieaux (Park Forest, IL/Illinois Lutheran) at second and Niko Vercelletto (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) at third both went down by 8-1 scores. Mark Knight (Lyons, IL/Morton West) fell 8-0 at fourth, and Parker Lloyd (Sandy, UT/Hillcrest) dropped his fifth singles match 8-2.

Doubles matches went to Krueger and Adam Winters, 8-0 over Manjarrez and Vieaux at first, and Tyler Bussell and Jon Stroede, 8-1 over Knight and Lloyd at second.

The Cougars (1-5) will play against Dominican University on Friday afternoon at Taylor Park.
