April 18, 2015 – The Cougars traveled to Aurora University in an NACC conference match on Saturday with the season drawing to a close. CUC played a tough 2-7 loss on the cool spring day.
Interim Coach
Alex Brym said, "It was a tough morning traveling to an away match after hosting last night. The team worked hard to prepare for the matches and they just didn't go our way overall, but the number six singles and number three doubles really battled hard and got two points."
In doubles play, the number three pairing of
Andrew Menke (Pflugerville, TX/H.S.) and
Niko Vercelleto (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) won 9-7, but the first and second teams both fell.
In singles, it was Aurora's day as they won five of the six matches. While the singles matches were tough for CUC, Menke was again a bright spot for the Cougars as he won 6-3, 6-3 for his third singles victory of his career. The final score was 7-2 in favor of Aurora.
Concordia returns to the court next weekend for their final two NACC matches. They travel to the Milwaukee School of Engineering to play at 10 a.m. on Saturday and at Wisconsin Lutheran at 2 p.m.
