Box Score Sept. 27, 2014 – The Concordia University Chicago women's soccer team traveled to Milwaukee on Saturday to play the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Raiders took advantage of the home field and won 3-0 in revenge for last year's CUC victory.
"In the run of play it was a very even match, but playing shorthanded really made it tough" said head coach Thomas Goines. "They had an exceptional player that was hard to contain and they put away their chances while we didn't put away our chances. We are looking to change our momentum with our three games next week."
The Cougars started brightly as they dominated the first 25 minutes of the game. In the 13
th minute,
Alisha Johnson (Coal City, IL/H.S.) had a tremendous shot just wide. In the 16
th minute,
Nikki Anderson (Montgomery, IL/Oswego) fought through the Raiders' defense to shoot just high. Unfortunately, MSOE scored on a 35 yard bomb to make it 1-0 at the half.
In the second half, CUC played well for the first part of the second half before being shorthanded on the day began to show. The game was not decided until MSOE scored on a penalty kick to make it a 2-0 game. The Raiders' third goal came as the Cougars pressed forward trying to score.
The Cougars next game is on Tuesday when they return to Milwaukee to play Alverno College.
