April 26, 2014 – The Cougars traveled to Wisconsin on Saturday for two Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matches and a chance to clinch a spot in the conference playoffs. The first opponent was Lakeland College, which resulted in a 7-2 win and the sixth seed in the tournament. The Cougars' afternoon match went the other way as they faced Concordia University Wisconsin and lost 9-0.

Alex Brym said about the Lakeland match in particular, "We emphasized coming out strong with a purpose. We came out with a lot of energy and got an early lead. The guys stayed focused and finished the matches. Once we had results early, we were relaxed and played well."
In the morning match versus Lakeland, the Cougars beat their main challenger for the final conference tournament spot.
Clinton Bienz (Fort Wayne, IN/Concordia Lutheran) won first doubles 8-4 with
Ariel Manjarrez (Berwyn, IL/Morton West), and his second singles match 6-2, 6-3 and raised the level of the team through his relentlessly positive attitude. In fourth singles,
Alex Vieaux (Park Forest, IL/Illinois Lutheran) won his matchup 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 in a tough match. He rallied back and overcame some nerves to win in the tiebreaker.
In the afternoon match against Concordia Wisconsin, there were some good competitive matches. Bienz again showed great tenacity despite losing 6-3, 6-3.
Zach Eddins (Hickory, NC/St. Stephen) dropped his sixth singles match 6-2, 6-4 but was close to winning the second set and forcing a tiebreaker.
Concordia-Chicago will play in the NACC tournament on Monday, April 28. The Cougars earned a rematch with the third-seeded CUW Falcons in Mequon, Wisconsin.
