Box Score
Sept. 15, 2012 - The Concordia-Chicago women's soccer team looked to be in an enviable position entering this afternoon's match at Concordia University Wisconsin. The Cougars were coming off a 5-0 win over Knox College and enjoyed five days off to prepare for this battle with one of the Northern Athletics Conference's preseason favorites. However, neither the previous result nor the rest helped the Cougars today as they lost to the Falcons by a 4-0 score.
The Falcons outshot the Cougars 15-1 in the first half with
Angela Powers (Palos Hills, IL/Shepard) notching the lone Cougars' shot. However, the maroon and gold stayed close as they held the hosts to just one goal, that off the foot of Lauren Straehler in the 33rd minute.
Concordia Wisconsin opened up the lead in the second half with three of their nine shots finding the back of the net. Straehler tallied her second goal in the 60th minute. She was followed by Jaclyn Theune in the 68th minute and Alyssa Ciesielczyk in the 84th minute.
The Cougars (2-2, 0-2 NAC) will play at Aurora University on Wednesday.
